Injuries and Shepherds

Not to worry, nothing major. The end table/filing cabinet received quite the blow today, not to mention...Navie. Navie was jumping along the couch, something she started doing after moving to Florida. Somehow today she overshot the couch and smacked her chin right on the table thing next to it. Navie has a small mark on her chin now but she totally put a hole (dent) in the furniture. I was rather amazed. After all the dramatic crying and snuggling, I made her tell the table she was sorry. Navie also sustained a minor bruise to the arm as well.

The next story I'm going to tell you is AMAZING and came straight from Navie. I'm telling it exactly how it happened.
So Navie and I are driving to the dry cleaners on Thursday. Up ahead a little ways I see a family of about 5 or 6 walking down the sidewalk towards us. I notice them because I was about to turn right and they were also dressed with white, long robes and straw-looking hats. As we get closer, Navie sees them out her window as well. As soon as she sees them, she tells me rather excitedly, "Mom, I saw them!" I'm thinking yeah, they had some different clothes, kinda funny. But no, next I hear her say "I saw the shepherds!" She then goes on to ask me "Are they going to see the baby?" The baby in which Navie is referring to is the baby Jesus, of course. I respond, "yeah they are." Now the thing I can't type is the pure excitement and joy in her voice like she is putting it altogther. She was ecstatic. Finally after another minute she says, "I didn't know they came to Naples..(pause)..Florida." I wish you could hear her say it like I do in my mind. It was HILARIOUS! She sounded completed awed about the wonder and greatness of this new place she now lived in because the shepherds and baby Jesus were here for goodness sake! I laughed so hard on the inside. I couldn't ruin it for her. Oh yeah and then she says, "Mom, we gotta tell Dad that we saw the shepherds." I've never been so grateful for people dressed in white robes before.

Disney Take 2

This truly is a magical place. Here are a few highlights from our day yesterday...with my thoughts about it.
First stop: Mickey and Minnie-I really wished they could have talked to us. It bothered me all day that they didn't talk but then as I was going to sleep, I realized "oh there voices wouldn't sound like mice, duh!"

Then on to the fairies. We are not really into the fairies at our house but I LOVED Tinkerbell. She talked to Navie so well. Tinkerbell told Navie all about the invention she made to spray-paint the ladybugs for spring...so cute!!

I love the way she is looking up in this one. I didn't love Jasmine and Aladdin. They were a little too out of character for my liking. But you gotta admit, the way Aladdin is smiling in this picture makes him look a lot like the real one. (See what I mean...magical.)

Navie was a little more shy with the princesses this trip. Navie would make me go with her to talk to them and then as we walked from them, she would tell me how not shy she was...not so sure I always agreed. tiana was adorable. I loved her accent and we asked her if she liked being a frog and she told us that she didn't like it very much and told us a funny little story about cooking as a frog. It was cute.

And of course Ariel and prince Eric. I wish the lighting behind wasn't so bright. I really enjoyed Ariel too. We asked her about her seashell necklace and she told us it was Valentine's present from prince Eric with a little help from Flounder.

Navie rode her first little roller coaster that day too. She screamed for most of the 20 second-ride but it was for fun and not because of terror. Then we went to the Laugh Floor at Monsters Inc and Navie and Jason got their pictures/live video feed up on the big screen. Navie looked adorable and Jason did a great job playing along as well. I love Disney World! (I never thought I would say that!)

You Know You're a Floridian when...

....you have a Florida Driver's License and you haven't been to the beach in 2-weeks and it feels like it's been FOREVER (imagine saying that like they do in The Sandlot). Well we remedied that on Tuesday. Here are a few shots of Navie. She's just too cute and I am SO glad she's back!!

She was trying to eat her Cheetos without using her sandy hands. It was so cute in person.

Suzy Homemaker

I've been wanting an apron for a long time. Navie was gone and I had a birthday...it seemed like the perfect time to make that dream a reality. There are really no frills but it sure is bright and happy. And it sure does make the idea of cooking dinner a lot more appetizing to me (no pun intended).

Here is a picture of one of the fruits of my labors. My new best friend Pinterest helped me find a recipe for Texas Roadhouse rolls...as you might imagine, I jumped right on that. I made them tonight and they turned out rather delicious. I even made some Cinnamon Honey Butter to go with them (delish!).

Birthday Part 2

I'm sure you've been on pins and needles waiting for this continuation (is that a word? Doesn't look right to me but I'm going to roll with it) post. Well it was worth the wait. I got one of these!!

It's an i-pad 2. We saved some good money and I am loving it!

I got a huge cake this year. Ice cream cakes are my favorite! My mouth was salivating as I stood there waiting for the guy to finish writing my birthday message at DQ.

I also got myself a few other little things. I went all out for this one. Navie was a fantastic helper. I think she likes my birthday better than her cousin's parties because she can "help" me unwrap and by help, of course I mean she does it.

Navie gave me a necklace for my birthday...such a sweetie.

I was stoked about having my first birthday party in warm weather. We have a sand volleyball court at our place that I've been dying to use so we invited the gang over for water balloon volleyball. Only problem it started raining like 30 minutes before the party so we cancelled. This is Navie and I playing with what was left of the balloons a few days later. By the way...the 3 of us have done a great job eating the huge sheet cake of ice cream.

All in all though, I am one lucky girl and I had a great 3 week birthday celebration. (A few other highlights include: having cake with my family in Utah, having breakfast with my Salisbury gals at Cracker Barrel, eating at Texas Roadhouse with friends in Tampa, and going out to Steak 'n Shake before the big i-pad purchase).
