Being the Tooth Fairy

Sunday went like most Sundays do...we got up, ate breakfast, went to church, made Sunday lunch, and began quiet time. Navie was watching a princess Dora movie from the library and Jason and I were resting in bed. Imagine our surprise when Navie comes running into our room and says "You gotta see this!" I'm thinking what on Earth could she possibly have to show us right now, this better be good. And Holy Cow did she show me? Her very first, little baby tooth was full on wiggling...no doubt about it. Although this was incredibly exciting, I had this like freak-out moment, where I thought, this can't be happening, she is much too young. I don't want her to grow up. Then I was panicked because I didn't know how to be the tooth fairy. Of course now that it's over, there is really nothing to it but Navie really knocked me off my rocker on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Dad came home early from school and took Navie to the pool. As they walked out the door, I handed Navie her water-bottle (hydration is very important to me). After about 45 minutes, I hear their flip-flops coming up the stairs and then I hear Navie, "Mom, my tooth came out!" Sure enough, she walks over and staring me right in the face is the little hole in her mouth to prove it. Again I was shocked, the tooth hadn't really seemed to loosen much since Sunday, so I was basking in the idea that she was allowing me a few more days to wrap my head around this.
What caused the tooth to fall out you ask, her water bottle. If only I had decided not to give it to her we'd be sitting here today with a little girl sporting a "loose" tooth and not a "missing" tooth. But even though I felt like my world had been turned upside down, Navie was thrilled and really so was I. The tooth popped out quick and easy and she caught it right in her hand. There was no trauma associated with it. Just what we needed for her first lost tooth experience. Now I get to see that adorable little smile with a little hole. I rather like it.
She took her tooth to school the next day to show all her friends and then Thursday night she was ready for her first visit from the tooth fairy.
She's holding her eyes open because she kept closing them in all the previous pics. Although the experience began as a moment feeling like someone had dumped one of those giant coolers of cold water on my head, it was a great experience for everyone! Our baby girl lost her first tooth!

Birthday in Bermuda

Jason says that this was his best birthday yet. I got him some delicious chocolate truffles from Norman Love Confections.
They taste as good as they look!
We also got to jump on cruise ship for a quick trip to the Bahamas. My sister passed on a free cruise deal to us. It was gladly accepted and put to good use. See my new clothes...pink skinnies, who would have thought?
Upon arriving in port at the Bahamas, we saw scooters for rent and we had to take advantage of it. As we were filling out the paperwork, the lady informed us that the scooter didn't have very much gas in it but she assured us that we would be able to make it to the gas station. So we put on our matching black helmets lined with paper towels and headed to the gas station driving on the left side of the road. We learned this the hard way as we entered the first round-about going the wrong way. But we didn't make it to the gas station.
There was a gas station just across the street from where we stopped but it was no longer open. So we began pushing our way back to the port.
After a short jaunt up the road, a man in a Corolla stops next to us to ask what is going on. Being a little shy of how far this man's generosity would go, we yell that we are out of gas and we're taking the scooter back. He then u-turns and pulls in front of us. He gets out and asks for the key. I'm thinking, what is going on? Jason hands over the key and he gets it to start up so the Bahamian/Bohemian gets on the scooter and tells us to follow him in the car.
It wasn't long before the scooter stopped again. And the local man starts pushing the scooter for us.
Meanwhile, Jason and I are following him in the car thinking, where are we? Strangers just let us drive their cars while they push our scooter to the gas station for us. We were driving this beat-up old Corolla. I was hoping that the picture would show the condition of the car but apparently I'm no good at capturing what I want. As it turns out, he was the owner of the rental place and he paid to fill up the tank for us. Bonus!
Once we got the tank filled, we headed to the beach for a little snack.
A few days after coming home, we ate a yummy funfetti cake with Navie.

Christmas Fun continued

We tried to show Kari all of the treasures that Florida has to offer, unfortunately the weather was rather uncooperative. We had a great time in spite of this. We took her to see alligators.
We went to the beach a few times, both occasions were not ideal beach weather days. This one in particular. The wind was nearly picking us up.
We went on a Dolphin cruise, more like a tour of the fancy homes in Downtown Naples. There were some pretty amazing houses to see.
We did manage to spot a few dolphins as well. It was chilly but fun. After the boat ride, we ate seafood and alligator bites.
Christmas Day was different than all my other Christmas Days so far. We woke up and got ready for the day and started preparations for turkey dinner. Then we went to the movie theater to see a little flick titled "Les Miserables." After the movie, we finished preparing the delicious turkey dinner and then after stuffing ourselves with turkey, we finally opened our Christmas gifts.
Kari got a few surprises, sorry for the glare.
We had yummy turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and scrumptious sweet potato souflette. I also made a chocolate pie and pumpkin pie. Can you tell someone was preggers this Christmas? It was all about food for me.
And of course baby boy got a few things too. I know many of you have already seen this picture but I never get tired of seeing such tiny little clothes.
