Visitors

We had our first visitors come, my parents and my sister, Carolyn and her husband, Wes. We got to see and experience many of the wonderful things Florida has to offer as well as plenty of relaxation while watching the Olympics and playing games. We went to the beach, saw some gators...
saw a jellyfish while snorkeling (not sure how this picture ended up here)
went deep sea fishing
Bless Jason because thanks to him we have pictures of the day...maybe not glamorous but pictures nonetheless. Mom got a good one.
Jason caught the "catch of the day." At first we thought it was big enough to take home but actually it wasn't so we had to cut it up to feed to the other fish.
Unfortunately we chose a particularly windy day, which translates to big waves and lots of boat rockin'. Carolyn and I both got a little sea sick over the edge but it was so exciting to catch some fish. This is me releasing the "bait fish" that we caught but didn't use.
went snorkeling at Key Largo and saw fish, an anchor, and some cannons from a shipwreck.
Gotta love the pink flippers (Thank Lauren!)
We also did some sewing to get ready for Wes and Care's baby girl. Hopefully I'll have pictures to show after baby comes. We also went shopping for baby and the boys got new jeans as well. We saw the new Bourne movie and ate some good food. It was a wonderful week. I wonder what's in store for our next visitors...

Just Another Day in Paradise

Yesterday started as a day like many other. Navie and I made some crafts, played with some toys, ate breakfast and lunch
We started to get ready to go the pool with daddy when he got home and what does dad bring home with him...a lovely bouquet for mom. It melted my heart and took that rather ordinary day and made it Terrific!!
So we go to the pool, which felt amazing because it was incredibly hot. Following with tradition we get in the hot tub just before heading back inside. The hot tub at our pool has this lower tub area that the water from the "real" hot tub flows in to. We like to lean over the edge and look inside this lower tub. As I was doing so I see something moving...not uncommon except that this moving thing was a creature. A baby turtle creature. We were all very concerned about the turtles being in such hot water so Jason went to get our net and a bucket so we could rescue the turtle. As it turns out there were actually two. We now have two pet baby Florida soft shell turtles. It sounds glamorous but wait till you see them. They have these ugly little snouts. But they have cool spotted shells and legs.
After eating dinner, we head to the local pet store and pick up some turtle food. We decided we'd try to keep the turtles for as long as we have food to feed them. This little adventure could be rather short lived however because it's been 24 hours and I don't think the turtles have taken one bite of food. (PS: They don't live in the purple bucket...I'll try to get a picture of their new home in another post). We named them Crush and Frenchy (avid Fancy Nancy readers will recognize that name).
PS:
This is just a random picture from earlier this month. I saw these on pinterest and wanted to make them on the 4th but didn't get around to it that day but I finally did a week later. They were scrumptious.

Clowning Around

...at the library for night at the circus.
Navie obviously got her face painted. There were also bean bag tosses and crafts. Navie had a great time. After making a Froot Loop necklace, she said "I love this library."

Goodbye Old Friend

We said goodbye to the Harley this weekend. Now that it rains like every day around dinner time, the motorcycle just wasn't working. Poor Jason came home from school last week dripping wet. It was quite the whirlwind of a weekend but after 4 days, we are still feeling good about the decision. We are going to live the life of a one car family. We'll see how it goes. So far...so good.
These were the best pictures I got. I seriously took at least 12 and this was the best.

4th of July

Naples has provided so many great days already and it did not disappoint for the 4th. Navie and I spent the day before making some holiday crafts. And we began the day with a red, white, and blue breakfast.
I promise that is powdered sugar although it resembles cottage cheese.
Here is the flag we made and the cute skirt from Aunt Kristy.
After some of the warmest paradin' of my life, we went home and watched a movie while it rained.
We even painted red, white, and blue nails.
Then we headed to the beach for fireworks. Talk about awesome, we swam in the ocean and played with sparklers on the beach.
Then watched some amazingly close fireworks take off from the pier. It was terrific. Each and every person needs to see the fireworks at Naples Pier at some point in their life.

Kickin' It in Key West

After snorkeling, Jason and I hit the streets of Key West and we found some great stuff. Most importantly we found a street named after me We found the end of the road and learned that we were only 90 miles from Cuba. We found a shark... A giant sponge-man (I think we both look hilarious in this picture by the way) There were butterflies all kinds of golf carts And tons of trees with beautiful orange flowers (this picture hardly does them justice)
